Burnsville's Presbyterian Church
Four decades of faith and service

"Embracing the Spirit to put Faith in Action" is the mission statement of Presbyterian Church of the Apostles (PCA) and speaks to the strong value the congregation places on doing mission work within our community and beyond our borders.

The Presbyterian Church of the Apostles seeks to worship and serve God, who is revealed to us in the life and ministry of Jesus Christ. We enthusiastically invite others to join us! Jesus demonstrates both God's unconditional love for us and all people and God's absolute requirements of us, to do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly with God. (Micah 6:8)

As an active, progressive and inclusive community in Christ:

We do justice
- working to transform our society to help the poor, the oppressed and the least of these in our world;

We love kindness
- honoring each other's differences and diversity in an environment of grace and acceptance,
- providing nurture and empowerment to each of our members in our internal ministry, and
- doing acts of mercy in external ministry; and

We walk humbly
- expecting the Holy Spirit to speak new things to us, to other people, and to each generation,
- offering traditional and alternative Christian perspectives in education and worship, and
- encouraging continual dialogue and spiritual growth.

How we get involved
PCA was founded on an apostolic model that encourages members to identify needs that can be addressed by Apostle Groups and program councils. Members are effective organizers and energetic workers and over 75% of the congregation is involved in programs. There is an active nurture phone network and an outreach process that welcomes visitors and assists members and friends with transportation, meals, visitation and other needs.

The church is blessed with many professional teachers and others who teach in the Logos program and Christian education at all age levels. The youth are highly involved in worship and ministry, including an annual mission trip. Music and visual art are vital in the life and ministry of the church.

Many musicians, including youth of all ages, participate in ensembles, tone chime and vocal choirs, and drama groups, all serving on a volunteer basis. Many styles of artwork are visible throughout the church and many different styles of music are heard in worship, including gospel, jazz, classical, praise and spirituals. Congregational members are warm and friendly and take a deep interest in each other's lives and concerns.
